9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
World of Coca-Cola Atlanta, featuring the largest collection of Coca-Cola memorabilia ever assembled, traces the century-old history of the world's most popular soft drink. Since its grand opening in 1990, World of Coca-Cola Atlanta has welcomed nearly nine million visitors and become Atlanta's most visited indoor attraction. The three-story pavilion is located in downtown Atlanta, less than two miles from the worldwide headquarters of the Coca-Cola Company.
World of Coca-Cola Atlanta was designed to showcase the rich heritage and global reach of Coca-Cola, with exhibits that appeal to both young and old. The attraction contains approximately 1,000 Coca-Cola artifacts presented in chronological order, in addition to interactive exhibits and video presentations. Visitors are taken on a virtual journey from the invention of Coca-Cola by Dr. John Pemberton in 1886 to its present proliferation throughout the world, where an average of 9,600 Coca-Cola Company beverages are consumed every second.
The architectural focal point of World of Coca-Cola Atlanta is its landmark neon Coca-Cola sign, which is 30 feet high and 26 feet wide and suspended above the entrance to the pavilion. Just inside the entrance, visitors stand in a 3-story atrium hung with flags representing more than 200 nations & territories where Coca-Cola is available.
The self-guided tour starts on the third floor, where guests are greeted by a kinetic bottling sculpture paying tribute to the importance of Coca-Cola Bottlers. Exhibits here describe the birth of the Coca-Cola Company and feature early advertising, promotional and packaging items, including the attraction's most prized possession: a 1915 prototype 'hobbleskirt' bottle with the distinctive contour shape that is now a recognized icon throughout the world. (There are only two such bottles still in existence.)
Also on this floor, a life-sized recreation of a 1930s soda fountain and a state-of-the-art theater, where guests view the film 'Every Day of Your Life.' The 10-minute movie salutes the world's largest production and distribution system by taking a sweeping look at Coca-Cola throughout the globe, from the Pyramids at Giza to the Harbor in Hong Kong.
The second floor charts the growth of Coca-Cola from the 1950s to the present. Here guests can listen to radio jingles sung by such music stars as Roy Orbison, Aretha Franklin and Loretta Lynn and watch a 45-year retrospective of Coca-Cola television advertising, including the memorable 1979 'Mean' Joe Greene commercial. Another highlight is a replica of the first soft drink dispenser in space, which traveled aboard the 1995 Discovery shuttle mission and supplied Coca-Cola to thirsty U.S. astronauts.
Finally, guests are treated to their favorite soft drinks, dramatically delivered by the 'Spectacular Fountain,' including Coca-Cola classic, diet Coke, Sprite, Barq's and Minute Maid Orange. In the same room, at the 'Tastes of the States' area, guests can enjoy 22 different soft drink brands, some available only regionally, including Citra and Barq's Red Creme Soda.
Nearby, at the 'Tastes of the World' exhibit in the International Lounge, guests can sample 22 exotic soft drink brands made by the Coca-Cola Company around the world that are not available in the United States. Products featured include Japan's Vegita-Beta, a non-carbonated apricot-flavored drink with beta-carotene, Germay's orange and cola-flavored Mezzo Mix, Mexico's tutti frutti-flavored Chispa, Paraguay's pinapple-flavored Simba Pina and Mozambique's Krest ginger ale.
The entire first level is dedicated to Everything Coca-Cola, a 5,600-square-foot retail store featuring a wide assortment of Coca-Cola brand merchandise, including t-shirts, caps, jackets, dinnerware, vintage trays, glassware, lapel pins, Coca-Cola polar bear apparel and toys, limited edition collectibles and more.
Hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. (Summer hours - June, July and August - are Monday through Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) Admission is $6 for general admission, $4 for seniors (55+), $3 for children (ages 6-11) and free for toddlers aged 5 and younger.
