The games afoot here on the site of the Victorian Northumberland Hotel where, as Holmes fans know, Sir Henry Baskerville stayed when he came to London to meet Holmes and Dr. Watson in The Hound of the Baskervilles. It's a nice Victorian pub with all sorts of "Holmes touches" in Westminster not far from Charing Cross that's worth a trip for Holmes fanciers. The Shepard's pie and bread and butter pudding are better than average and less expensive too. It's a bit of a tourist trap, but worth a visit and a brew if you're in the neighborhood. Nearest underground: Charring Cross.
